Hungarian Porsche 912 restomod specialist KAMManufaktur has revealed what could just be the ultimate summer cruiser with its 912c Targa.

Tipping the scales at under 800kg, the focus of KAMM's 912c models is making them raw, featherweight, analogue sports cars that are all about driver engagement. The company launched its first coupe model in 2022, but this is the first with an open top.

Built around the base of an original 912 Targa, with the launch edition car pictured here a 1968 soft-window example, KAMM rebodies it using in-house carbon fibre panels that reduce weight while retaining the original, classic Porsche styling.

To shave even more kilos to get it under the 800kg mark, its lightweight windows are manufactured from hardened, scratchproof Lexan polycarbonate.

This launch model, the first to be completed, is being offered by the Budapest-based company in an exclusive specification featuring Tangerine paintwork over a tobacco leather interior with Porsche Pasha inserts.

It also features steel lookalike wheels which are actually aluminium, Cibie driving lights, a carbon roof rack, and a bespoke surfboard made to match. There's also a number of discrete interior features such as a high-quality audio system fitted inside.

As with all KAMM models, the 912c Targa features an enlarged 2.0-litre flat-four, up from the original 1.6-litre displacement, producing 138kW (185hp) at 6500rpm and 205Nm at 5200rpm, with its redline set at 7200rpm. It's backed by an upgraded version of the original 5-speed 'dog-leg' gearbox.

This isn't a one-off, with the company already building cars for clients; likewise, it isn't just on offer for Europe, with company founder Miklós Kázmér noting that he has Aussie buyers already.

“The KAMM 912c is now being built for clients all around the world, from the US to Australia and mainland Europe to the Far East,” says Kázmér.

“Many potential clients live in areas blessed with great weather and want to experience all a KAMM has to offer. With that in mind I created the KAMM 912c Targa. Based on the soft-window Targa, it retains classically original looks but is every inch a true KAMM.”

2025 build slots for the 912c and 912c Targa are already open, with this launch edition 912c Targa on offer for €395,000 with delivery to anywhere in the world as an indication of pricing.
